Supposedly the Moto E for ST will be $10 on Cyber Monday, according their facebook page.
ReplyDeleteAlso, at Target, the TF Moto E is $99.99 through 12/20. I saw it this morning while shopping.
Thank you for this info. Been anticipating release & $ reduction on what is the low end Moto model. Will make a nice supplemental device when we travel. My LG is great with Sprint where I live but Verizon network makes this desirable (and cheap) second fiddle.
DeleteSo will the ST Moto E work with Page Plus (and get 3g data) ?
DeleteIt might. Many Straight Talk phone do work on PagePlus but some don't get data. I haven't seen any reports of whether the Moto E works or not.
DeleteFrom my own experience, if the phone is listed for sale on PP AND ST it will work. Otherwise you only get talk n text with ST only phones.
DeleteCricketWireless.com now says their Cyber Monday 50% off the S4 and S5 starts at 3 AM.
ReplyDeleteI heard that it starts at 3 AM ET which is the same as Midnight PT.
DeleteYes, Dennis, that is consistent with what Cricket told me over the phone a few days ago. 12:01 Monday morning, Eastern time.
DeleteOf course, if someone in Pacific time is hot to trot on the deals, I'm sure they can log in 3 hours early and hammer away..Just in case. It's not unknown, of course, for things to end up different from how they were stated.
Sold out at 3:20 AM ET - not that I expected to get one anyway.
DeleteWhy is it so hard to find a T-Mobile NFC phone for under $100? The F6 has pretty much been the same price at newegg for like 6 months.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't this site's fault my any means, but there's very little for an AT&T android user. There's no way I'd buy a used/refurb off of ebay. Enough of those listings end up being scams/misrepresentations that I don't think it is worth the risk.
ReplyDeletere: " There's no way I'd buy a used/refurb off of ebay"
DeleteI just got a used one off eBay. The "scams/misrepresentations" are easy enough to avoid by looking for both the seller's feedback rating, and making sure you are covered by ability to return and/or eBay's money-back guarantee. Options you don't have on Craigslist... to which your warnings would actually apply.
But if you bid without checking either, why yes, eBay can be very risky.
This deal will really have a profound effect on MetroPCS. It undercuts them by quite a measure. Although, people could buy the phones on Cricket, unlock them, and bring them over to Metro.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine using MetroPCS anyway. It's coverage is terrible compared to an AT&T-based prepaid.
DeleteIf MetroPCS really wanted to compete. they would attach themselves to Verizon or AT&T instead of TMO.. Oh wait, MetroPCS doesn't have a choice. It's part of TMO now. That has a profound negative effect more than anything.
Walmart: Cyber Monday already A GO on the AT&T Nokia Lumia 635 No-Contract GoPhone
ReplyDeleteCORRECTION: Cyber Monday sale for Cricket Wireless website: Samsung Galaxy S4 is $214.99+tax
ReplyDelete2014 Cyber Monday Offer ends December 1, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST or while supplies last, whichever ends first. No rain checks will be provided. New activation on a Basic, Smart or Pro Plan required. Cannot be combined with other offers.
Any idea when the ST Moto E's will be available for purchase at $9.99? I'm East Coast and getting very sleepy, but really don't want to miss this deal! Thanks as always, Dennis!
ReplyDelete-kris
No idea. It happens when it happens.
DeleteI've ordered a Moto G during Black Friday using local pickup. But it was cancelled because the Walmart retail shop nearby my place did not have enough stock. So, I am going to use bigger shop in other town.
DeleteBy the way, Boostmobile cyber onday started already.

Confirmed working, thanks.
DeleteDennis the Nokia 1320 was never $599.99. Did you mean the 1520 at Newegg?
ReplyDelete$599.99 does sound high but that's what Newegg claims the original price was. Do you know what an unsubsidized, factory unlocked 1320 cost at launch? I don't and Google isn't being helpful.
DeleteI don't know either but $599.99 sounds like the price of the 1520. I thought the 1320 was only on Cricket?
DeleteThat's a bit dishonest of Newegg, actually, to list an out-of-date full price that few paid as the "original price". A quick check of this phone shows the usual going price for a new one, from a variety of sources, is about $280.
DeleteJust got the $9.99 moto e in california.
ReplyDeleteAT&T Nokia Lumia 635 on Amazon for $49.99 + Free Shipping.
ReplyDeleteAmazon: Sprint Prepaid - HTC Desire 510 (A11) Blue for $29.99 & Free Shipping.
ReplyDeleteVerizon :Prepaid LG Transpyre for $49.99.
ReplyDeleteGott the HTC Desire 816 on Virgin Mobile for my mom it was $180 on Amazon much better deal than what Virgin Mobile is putting out for the phone
ReplyDeleteWoke up at 3am to get the Cricket S5 and Walmart Moto E. Cricket orders wouldn't go through as the site kept hanging. Moto E orders went through fine, but Walmart canceled the orders of anyone who ordered 2 (the item page would only let you put 2 in the cart, max).
ReplyDeleteI ended up with nothing.
...not complaining...just sharing....
I got a pristine used S5 off eBay to use on Cricket...right before they announced the Cyber Monday sale. Since the Cyber Monday new price was less than the used price I paid, I got a lot of buyer's remorse. However, looking at your experience, I feel better for choosing how I did...
DeleteHow Long do you have to stay with Virgin Mobile before you transfer your phone number?
ReplyDeleteYou can port out of Virgin Mobile immediately after you activate. What are you trying to accomplish?
DeleteKeep My phone and upgrade to a better phone with better service and call quality. I currently have Samsung S3 with Virgin Mobile? I look to move to Verizon? What phone would you suggest
DeleteKeep My phone NUMBER and upgrade to a better phone with better service and call quality. I currently have Samsung S3 with Virgin Mobile? I'm look to move to Verizon prepaid? What phone would you suggest. I have a hard hearing S3 in outside
DeleteIf you wan to move to Verizon Prepaid you will need a new phone. You can get a per-owned S4 from Verizon for $224.99. A less expensive option would be the LG Transpyre for $49.99 or a Motorola Luge for $99.99 though both have smaller screens and poored cameras than the S3.
DeleteThe S4, Luge and Transpyre are all supposed to have excellent call quality. They should all be louder and clearer than the S3 especially on on Verizon which tends to have better voice quality than Sprint.
DeleteVirgin S3 Guy: I was in a similar position, but I went the ATT prepaid path instead of Verizon, so I could get a lot more data. Porting out of Virgin was real easy. Getting started in Cricket was a comedy of errors, but I got a free SIM card out of it and no activation fee.
DeleteWhich was better? S4 or S5 on the Cricket 50% off deal?
ReplyDeleteThe S5 has better battery life and will get official OS upgrades for longer. The S4 is cheaper. Which is better for you?
DeleteWell I ended up getting the S5 cyber monday deal. I had been wondering if I should get the S4 instead and save some money. The battery life and build quality (IP67) I feel ok about choosing the S5.
DeleteJust consider the difference between the cost of the S4 and S5, and on top of the S5 improvements, think also of the extra several months of keeping the S5 you will have compared to the S4.... due to the S5 being newer, and "outdating" a lot later than the S4 also.
DeleteIs that worth the price you paid?
(I weighed such considerations also, and as a result, when I set out to get an S4, I got an S5 instead).

DeleteFrom my experience with two S5 phones, the battery life is not good. You can practically watch it go down, less boring than watching water boil.
But at least I can get bigger batteries. An option on the S5, which phones with inferior design do not allow (the ones with sealed back covers, non-replacable batteries).
Larger batteries is nice. I had the HTC 816 (un-removable battery) and it would drain so fast. Can I get an extended battery for the S5 without having to use a special backplate that makes the phone thicker?
DeleteTo the "Larger batteries is nice" anon:
DeleteI've seen several expanded batteries and packs for S5, and looks like they all have a thicker battery and need (and often ship with) a special backplate.
I myself don't mind a thicker phone, and feel that the obsession with thin-ness is too much a triumph of "form over function", and is like fins on 1950s cars.
If you don't mind a thicker phone, I'd recommend the ZeroLemon case. I don't have one yet, but the one I have for my old S3 is very "tough" and protective, and takes a thicker battery, or thinner one. I could drop the phone from 6 ' up in this case and never worry about damage.
From my S3 experience, I don't recommend the "ANKER" battery. It has a super high mah rating. However, when I used one, it completely shut off my mobile (3g/4g/LTE radio), my wifi, and my GPS. I didnt see if Anker kills Bluetooth too, but by this point, I didn't care, and I was shipping the battery back within moments of unboxing it.The design of the battery is as if they intended to block all possible radio/etc use in a phone.

ReplyDeleteMotorola Moto G - Universal 4G LTE - Unlocked - 8GB (Black) is currently listed @ 189.99 on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteGood Deal?
It's an OK deal. List price is $219
Deletelg Transpyre for $49.99 from who?
ReplyDeleteVerizon
DeleteIs was $49.99 from the Verizon prepaid site last week but it's $99.99 now.
DeleteDennis, Cannot seem to find if the Samsung Galaxy Ace is a gsm or not and if gsm, whether it is unlockable as the unlock sites would list 5 Ace's. Walmart does not have the exact one you list though.
ReplyDeleteAs it indicates in the post, the Samsung Galaxy Ace uses the Verizon network and therefore is a CDMA phone. It will only work on Straight Talk and possibly Verizon MVNOs. Unlocking is irrelevant to CDMA phones.
DeleteMotorola Luge is 79.99 at verizon and best buy right now. Can I buy it and use it through straight talk's new CMDA 4g lte (on verizon towers) BYOD without having to ever use it or activate it throught verizon prepaid? or do you think it would be tied to verizon ahead of time and only be able to activate through verizon prepaid directly?
ReplyDeleteIt won't work. Verizon Prepaid phones are blocked from activation on MVNOs because their serial numbers aren't in a database of allowed Verizon postpaid phones.
