GIV Mobile
The first 1 GB of data used in a 30 day plan period is at full speed, including LTE where available. After 1 GB, data speeds are reduced to 2G speeds of approximately 128 Kbps for the remainder of the plan period.
Current Giv users will get the increased data automatically with no action required on their part.
Giv Mobile uses the T-Mobile native network with no roaming. As befits its name, Giv gives 8% of every plan payment to charities chosen by the user from a list that includes the Alzheimer's Association, Kids in Need Foundation, International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and The Humane Society of the United States.
The table below lists Giv Mobile's current plans:
Plan | Price | Talk and Global Text | MMS | High Speed Data | 2G Data | International Call Credit |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
The 20 | $20 | unlimited | limited to available data | 250 MB (no LTE) | none | $1 |
The 25 | $25 | unlimited | unlimited | none | unlimited | $2.50 |
The 30 | $30 | unlimited | unlimited | 1 GB | unlimited | $5 |
The 40 | $40 | unlimited | unlimited | 2 GB | unlimited | $5 |
The 60 | $60 | unlimited | unlimited | 4 GB | unlimited | $5 |

Seems like a solid deal to me.
ReplyDeleteOther MVNO's and imitators should follow their lead of offering the low end plans.
ReplyDeleteUh oh, the $30 deal is giving my $30 T-Mobile secret plan a run for its money, being that it's on GSM.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be a tough one to choose: T-MOBILE's 5GB or GIV's UNLIMITED minutes...Both for $30 and with BYOD on GSM!
DeleteSince I almost never go over 2 GB of data, if this GIV deal offers 2 GB of T-Mobile LTE data, I'd be further tempted. But remember also that T-Mobile's secret plan also offers 100 MB worth of courtesy tethering. So come to think of it, secret plan still wins in the end!
DeleteThe biggest advantage that I see with ANY T-MOBILE Prepaid plan ( which includes the $30 Secret Plan) is the inclusion of ROAMING: You never know when you may need it in an EMERGENCY! The 100 MB of tethering will be used in a BLINK of an eye...
DeleteYou just missed another secret of the Secret Plan. So long as you don't have a history of high data usage, T-Mobile is pretty lenient when you do go over your 100 MB courtesy tethering limit. I. e. if you used 20 MB out of your allotted 100 MB, they might only deduct 1 MB instead. Also, the courtesy tethering is just that... a COURTESY... for infrequent use. For those that want full tethering privilege with the secret plan, just pony up the $15 whenever you need it.
Deleteanother mvno..

not at all competitive.
To say the least. A rough estimate would be that they are triple the price of others.
DeleteFelt like it was on archive.org and looking at something from 2004.
I just loled at those plans.
DeleteThe $20 plan is great for those who don't need data or very little data and can't join Cricket 5 person group plan for 2.5gb data for $20 each.
ReplyDeleteCan we really get 250 MB HSPA+ data with the $20 plan, because unlike PTel, GIV does not show data to be "high-speed" for $20 plan in their comparison table. Appreciate if anyone can confirm from their experience.
DeleteYes, on https://www.givmobile.com/plans/ it shows data on the $20 plan to be "3G/4G". The "High speed data" row is only populated for plans that have unlimited data with a portion of it at high speed and the rest throttled.
DeleteI would switch from PTEL to GIV, IF only GIV had better coupon codes for their Refill Cards...That said, hopefully PTEL will lower their $35 Plan as well...
ReplyDeleteDennis, do you think BOTH GIV & PTEL will be sticking around for the long term? It seems a lot of MVNOs are ( almost) fly-by-night operations... Okay, true most of those that ARE going out of business are SPRINT MVNOs...
PTel's been around since 2001, they have staying power and Giv is PTel.
DeleteThanks Dennis for all of the GREAT information that you share on this site...especially with the terrific COUPON CODES!
ReplyDeleteThe interesting things about GIV and Ptel is the fact they support call forwarding which makes Google voice usable on their network unlike many others tmobile mvno
