For a limited time, you might be one of the recipients of a free device currently being given away by Boom Mobile. The MVNO recently announced that they are hosting a limited time promotion wherein they will be giving away one of three devices to individuals who purchase two months of service.
Among the three devices being given away include the following:
Pantech Breakout
The Pantech Breakout is an older smartphone that still runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. The device comes with a 4-inch TFT screen, 5-megapixel camera, 1GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, 512MB of RAM, and 1500 mAh battery. Normally, this device is priced at $40. But under Boom's promotion, customers may avail of the Pantech Breakout for free by purchasing 2 months of service under Boom Mobile's plan. The plan comes with unlimited talk, text and 2GB of 4G LTE data for only $29.99 per month.
Motorola Droid A855 3G
The Motorola Droid A855 3G is another device available under Boom Mobile's promotion. This device comes with a 3.7-inch screen, 5-megapixel camera, 256MB of internal memory, microSD card slot, and a 1400 mAh battery. Instead of paying $34.99 for this device, you can get it for free by purchasing 2 months of service with Boom Mobile. The plan includes unlimited talk, text and 500MB of data at $24.99 per month.
Ellipsis Jetpack
The last of the three devices currently being given away by Boom Mobile is the Ellipsis Jetpack, a mobile hotspot device that operates on Verizon's LTE network and has a 2100 mAh battery. The device is currently available for $39.88 under Boom Mobile. But if you want to get the device for free, you just need to get 2 months of Boom Mobile service. The service comes with 1GB of data each month for $19.99 per month.
You may get one of these three devices for free as long as supplies last.

I appreciate the effort on Boom!'s part, but it is just really weak. I would almost an entity rather not make such offerings.
ReplyDeleteWho would want these phones they are old
ReplyDeleteHorrible devices. I know its free but i dont think too many people will jump at this deal. Who uses 2.3 gingerbread in 2016? Too small of screen on the phones to.
ReplyDeleteFree gingerbread!? Oh my!!!
ReplyDeleteAre they unlocked?
ReplyDeleteSim unlocked would almost make the pantech worth its free price. I sort of assume all gingerbread can be bootloader unlocked, right? 3g on verizon is truely worthless, but i like that museum piece motorla droid! Is it brand new? It came out in 2009! I want it for my collection, will look nice resting next to my google g1, and i can show my kids someday, the first andriod devices ever!
Deleteomg...
ReplyDeleteAre these old phones even safe / secure to use? I see people mention lack of security patches for much newer phones (recent Moto's for instance) and I can't imagine these phones being up to date re known vulnerabilities / exploits.
ReplyDeleteI here Pentech was bankrupt. Howvwer, I wonder how they get the old phones?
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Pantech Breakout is the only one offered as of today 11/8...Need something usable not archaic. Could have at least offered an LG or Samsung with Jelly Bean or newer?
