According to Best Cellular MVNO President Curtis McCoy, "I think the increases on the $15 and $19 plans will be great for folks on the limited talk plans. (We had a lot of people who only talked 100-350 minutes per month on the $15 plans and when they went over 350 it was a hassle. (Going up to 500 Min & 750 Min should ease a lot of stress for the older crowd so they can talk with family and not worry about trying to get off the phone to save minutes.".

Best Cellular is available though a network of independent dealers as well as online and through telesales.  Best offers 24/7 US based customer and dealer support. Plan prices include all taxes and fees.

    1. "How do these uncompetitive mvnos stay in business?"

On the one hand, how can they get customers since no one hears of them?

On the other, when they DO get customers. they can make a big profit from their charging more for a chintzy MVNO experience than you have to pay for AT&T and the other "proper" postpaid networks they run off of.

  3. The At&t plans have less data yet cost more money than At&t Prepaid itself? What is the point of these overpriced plans?

    1. It's like that one from last year that was selling service on the Sprint network for something like two or three times as much as it takes to get a typical Sprint postpaid account.

They had someone from the company on the blog, defending it, saying "But we are nicer" or something like that.

"Yeah, "Best Cellular" sounds good to me, but yet again, I'm the kind of guy who pays for government cheese, and insists on paying the used car guy full-2017 Ford F150 dealer sticker price when I am buying a 2009 truck with 250,000 miles on it and missing fenders...

But that 2009 truck with 250,000 miles on it and missing fenders has been upgraded to only missing three fenders instead of missing four fenders. These are "positive changes".

Deals like this give me a flashback to the Clinton administration.

    1. Go through the list of MVNO's to the right. You will be surprised at how many, like "Best", charge more than the carrier of their "base" networks do.

  8. Curtis told us a couple of months ago that he would continue to improve plans, and he has. The independent dealers that sell Best Cellular plans add value for most customers by matching plans that meet needs at reasonable prices. Dealers have to make a living, too. They provide hands-on support to people who don't want to waste their lives reading phone blogs. This is not a monolithic market. There is room for all types of companies and plans.
Too bad AT&T hasn't budget yet. I'm pretty sure Curtis won't stop trying.

    1. It's a lot easier to check phone blogs than to go to a dealer storefront that has very limited hours.

The dealers make a living line... Is that an appeal to pity?

    2. Dealers are a significant part of the prepaid ecosystem. It's a tough, low margin business that serves a significant portion of the population who are not techies, don't shop online and often pay with cash.

All business have to be profitable in order to survive. Shop where you want but don't assume that everyone has the same wants and opportunities as you.

    3. I tend to find a dealership that isn't evil/grossly uninformed only about one out of five times. That makes me wonder how necessary it is.

    4. Worst Cellular -- or "Best Cellular" as they falsely call themselves -- is horribly ripping off people. Dennis, why did you publish this gushing article about the "positive changes" at Worst Cellular?! Oh wait -- I already know the answer to that question. It's because you get a referral fee when a reader clicks the "Best Cellular" link at the bottom of your article and then signs up for a Worst Cellular account.

    5. More minutes or data for the same price is a positive change. That's an objective observation, not a subjective one. That's not gushing involved, it's stating a fact.

We try to cover all the prepaid industry news. A carrier changing plans is news.

I don't know or care if the site receives affiliate revenue from Best Cellular or not. Logan handles the business side of the site including advertising and affiliate deals.

    6. "They provide hands-on support to people who don't want to waste their lives reading phone blogs."

That's a clever way of saying they exploit the ignorance of some people by charging them insanely sky-high prices.

    7. You're right of course! Very inspiring. No need to pay a specialist; they might exploit me!
I'm going to search the Internet as soon as I finish typing, and learn all about plumbing, electrical work, heart and colonoscopy surgery, tax accounting, house building, psychiatry, car mechanics, politics, divorce and criminal law, just in case.
Can't be that hard, right? You can find EVERYTHING on the Internet!

If you want to call some guy behind the counter hired 2 weeks ago who has never gone into the dealers' Best Cellular account system before until you asked him, and fumbles through it for 45 minutes as you watch and then gives up and tells you to come back tomorrow when the manager is in a "specialist".....well, be my guest.

  10. A positive change? Still overpriced and I don’t know how they expect to attract and maintain any business. Their “increase” offering is really more of a nuisance than anything else.

    1. Yes. A Chevy priced more than a Cadillac is still a Chevy priced more than a Cadillac even if they toss in free seatcovers with the Chevy.

    1. Usually those who trot out the "price of everything and the value of nothing" line like to needlessly waste money.

Better a cheapskate than a wasteful profligate. It's simply not wise to waste money.

I don't know what Hofo has to do with anything you mention. It's not a financial site. As for US customer service, I will go with the best regardless of the nationality of the person. I like to reward a job well done... And suprise! People outside of the US are quite capable of this.

  12. gsm-a blue at&t $45 plan with unlimited text and unlimited text but only 750 megabytes of data??? just go with official at&t prepaid with 6 gig data.

this is obviously not the "best" but this so called "best" company is catering to customers who do not know mvno prices across the market. that is, most people who only know about att/verizon/tmo/sprint if that and wouldn't know a mvno at all. there are a lot of people who would not know a mvno to save themselves, and they would not care to educate themselves because you get the typical looks of blank confused stares if you try to tell people about mvnos you use. there are too many stupid people out there of all ages. so the "best" you can do is point them to this broker company to unfortunately get ripped off because of most people's ignorance of mvnos as you can see if your friends get all confused if you try to tell them about mvnos.
