Boost Mobile's New Promotion is Specifically for MetroPCS Customers

Today, Sprint-owned Boost Mobile launched a new $60 Unlimited Plus plan that gave its subscribers unlimited talk, text, 4G LTE data, 50 domestic voice roaming minutes, HD streaming, and 20GB of mobile hotspot. Comparing this with its predecessor, the $50 Unlimited plan, the newer plan comes equipped with standard video streaming and 8GB of mobile hotspot data.

This plan offer, however, is only available from February 9 until April 5. It is applicable to both new and existing customers of Boost Mobile.

It looks like Boost Mobile is serious with its attempt of gaining more customers with an offer advertised at Walmart's website. This newly announced promotion, called "Switch Off MetroPCS," will be giving customers two months of free service when they decide to make the switch from the T-Mobile prepaid brand.

In order to take advantage of this two free months of service offer, you will have to activate either a single or multi-line plan. You can choose between these two plans:

  • $35 per month plan - includes unlimited talk, text, and 3GB of high speed data
  • $50 per month plan - includes unlimited talk, text and high speed data, and 8GB mobile hotspot
Upon activation, you will be required to pay for your first month of service. The credit for the second and third month will be applied within one week after activation.

The account must be activated before May 25, 2018.

There is no word whether this promotion is available exclusively via Walmart or can be purchased from Boost Mobile's own website. But Walmart's website indicates that this is available at select participating national retailers.

  1. The $50 plan comes with unlimited data. You have 6GB listed there. You get 6GB on the $35 plan, but only if you purchase it at Walmart.

  2. Great deal .. I just wish that Boost had better coverage in my area and vote. Hopefully they will address these issues so that they really can compete with Metro.

  3. Do you get free phones for switching and which ones does anyone know?

Tried finding an answer as boost now has the 15% of sale price of certain phones but if you port from metro you'd need a new phone so the 2 free months basically go towards that unless they are in fact giving free with this promotion.

If anyone has more information would appreciate.

    Thank

  4. With Boost now having much worse coverage than MetroPCS, the offer is really "Two Months Free of Cell Phone Service" for most... free of service until they switch back to Metro.

"Hopefully they will address these issues so that they really can compete with Metro."

The Sprint network has totally stagnated for years, while T-Mobile (which used to be as bad) has blown the doors of it. All Sprint has done is tricks like "Extended Roaming" claims where they say in print they might possibly have data roaming but in practice they offer nothing or just 200 mb a month then cut you off.

If data coverage on Boost is the issue try an HPUE equipped phone. It allowed me to remain a Boost customer in a weak Sprint coverage area.

    1. Is that really a cure? You mean if I have HPUE suddenly Sprint really is as good as Verizon?

    2. Not Verizon, but it remarkably improves coverage.

  6. Ironically, you would have no service inside the Walmart you tried to make the purchase. Welcome to Sprint.

    1. How true. Walmarts have good nationwide distribution. Sprint doesn't.

  7. Good deal. So basically 3 months of service for $60. Not bad at all.

    1. Read the article again. The two months free service is good only on the $35 & $50 plans.
      Confusing, eh?

  9. Domestic voice roaming? That means your native coverage is abysmal in a nutshell.

  10. Does Boost offer CallingPlus (LTE/Wi-Fi Calling)? This plan is tempting but I'd die if my stream was paused while using hotspot when I received a call. The main reason why I stick with T-Mobile's network is VoLTE.

    1. Hi, no Boost doesn't have that. Sprint hasn't given it to Boost yet, but hopefully they will.

    2. Hi Michael. I heard that Sprint Galaxy S8 supports VoLTE. I am not sure that the S8 VoLTE applies to Boost. Regarding HPUE which was mentioned earlier in this thread, I read that the S8 supports this too. The S8 is expensive, so I am not sure if it is worth spending the money for just to get something that the other carriers offer on much cheaper phones.

  12. We will be praying for Dennis. He is cherished by many.

    These phones support HPUE:

    LG X Charge
    Samsung Galaxy S8
    ZTE Max XL
    ZTE Blade Force

If you are on a budget I highly recommend the LG X Charge.
