Mint SIM Now Offers International Data Roaming

For a while now, Mint SIM has been offering international voice and text roaming. But it looks like Mint SIM customers are in for a treat with the MVNO's latest announcement.

Earlier today, the T-Mobile MVNO unveiled that they will be offering international data roaming to all Mint SIM accounts. The announcement can be found on Mint SIM's website, where they include more information on how their users can stay connected while they are traveling around the world.

In order to access International Roaming, you will need to purchase UpRoam balance in increments of $5, $10, or $20. This can be done by logging into your account or texting "UPROAM" to 6700 using your Mint SIM phone.

Once you're finished adding money to your International Roaming balance, you can start using the service on your trip. Here are the costs involved in using the service:

Outbound texts (Canada and Mexico): $0.02 per text
Outbound texts (other supported countries): $0.05 per text
Inbound texts: Free

Incoming and outgoing calls (Canada and Mexico): $0.06 per minute
Incoming and outgoing calls (other supported countries): $0.25 per minute

International Roaming data (Canada and Mexico): $0.06 per MB
International Roaming data (other supported countries): $0.20 per MB

Roaming data is un-throttled. Any unused balance does not expire. It is also carried over from month to month. You can check your roaming credit by logging into your Account Management Portal.

If you are traveling to another country, you will have to check whether or not international roaming data is supported by the MVNO; especially in the case of Turkmenistan, where SMS and voice are the only services supported.

You can check Mint SIM's website for a list of supported countries.

    1. Actually 20¢/MB is $204.80/GB. But that's still less than what AT&T Prepaid, T-Mobile Prepaid, Ting, Piranha, Truphone amd Lycamobile charge for data roaming in many countries.

  2. Metro Pcs has international roaming with their world calling plan, I went to the Dominican Republic with it, while it was 2g data with the network Orange it worked quite well.
    That beats this deal.

  3. $61/GB in Canada. Co-incidentally the same rate locals pay their carriers for data.

Seriously though, for a few bucks more, you can get 5GB HS data and unlimited 2G thereafter (plus unlimited incoming and outbound text and calls on T-Mobile postpaid.

  4. Purchase an unlocked phone. Use local SIM. That simple
