Moto G6 and G6 Play Make Short Appearance on Retail Website

A few days ago, a Hungarian website leaked the photos and specs of three Moto G6 devices-- the Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, and the Moto G6 Play. The specs released on the page were believed to be available for the European models. But it looks like the US is getting its own version of these devices.

Over the weekend, someone at Frys.com posted two of the three devices on the website. For a short time, the Moto G6 and G6 Play were available for pre-orders on the American retailer website. It looks like these two devices were posted by mistake (or at least a little earlier than intended) since they've been taken down and archived. A screenshot of the pages, however, have been captured and posted on several websites. In addition to the early posting on Frys.com, FCC filings for the Z3 Play have also surfaced online.

Based on the information posted on the Frys.com listing, the specs on the devices look like these:

Moto G6

The leaked specs of the Moto G6 that we published a few days ago seem to coincide with the specs on Frys.com. It looks like this device will be getting a 5.7-inch Full HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon processor, 3000mAh battery with TurboPower charging, 32GB of internal storage, and up to 128GB memory expansion via a microSD card.

The earlier leak shows that the G6 will carry a 12-megapixel main and 5-megapixel dual-camera configuration on the rear along with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The Frys.com listing, however, shows that the devic will have an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with ultra-wide angle lens. There is no mention of megapixels for the two cameras on the back.

Among the features highlighted on this device include face unlock, selective focus, landmark recognition, object recognition, voice control, fingerprint sensor, and face filters. The listing on the retail site showed a pre-order price of $249 with a shipping date on May 10.

Moto G6 Play

The other device that was briefly available on Frys.com's website is the Moto G6 Play, a device that will be carrying a 5.7-inch HD IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon processor, 4000mAh battery, 32GB of internal memory, and up to 128GB of extra storage via a microSD card.

The first leaks were correct in suggesting a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The fingerprint scanner on the Moto G6 Play will be moved to the back of the phone.

As for its price, the G6 Play was listed for pre-order at $199.99 with May 17th as its estimated shipping date.

Moto Z3 Play

The last Motorola device we saw today is the Moto Z3 Play, which made an appearance online with its recent FCC filings. The filings show the device will have a 6.1-inch display and a 3000mAh battery. The device (model number XT1929) will run Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with 4GB of RAM and two storage variants-- 32GB and 64GB.

As for its LTE bands, the Z3 Play will mirror the ones available on its predecessor, the Z2 Play, including bands 14, 18, 19, 40, and 71 for the North American variant.

Anyway, the listing on Frys.com has since been taken down. With a May 10 and May 17 shipping date lined up, it won't be long before the Moto G6 and G6 Play makes an official appearance to the public.

  2. These would've looked a lot better if they had everything in a rugged, manly, square-jawed chin like Xiaomi's flagship.

Symmetry for symmetry's sake is just bad design.

  3. I recall reading that Cricket Wireless will be offeraing branded version of the Moto G6 Play.

If you're gonna be stuck on a network, it might as well be a good one.
