Verizon Prepaid's Double Data for Life Promotion Now Available Online and In Stores

verizon-prepaid-double-data-promotion-announced
Back in May, Verizon Prepaid launched a promotion called "Double Data for Life". The promotion aimed at giving customers double data for the same price so that users can make the most out of their service.

When the promotion launched, however, it was only available at independent Verizon Prepaid dealers. This meant customers who wanted to enjoy this promotion had to have their service activated by a dealer. But it looks like Verizon is ready to make this promotion available to all of its prepaid customers without having to go to an independent dealer.

Earlier today, Verizon revealed the big news that its "Double Data for Life" promotion is now available in stores and online. But even though the promotion doubles the data on plans for life, its availability is not indefinite. As a matter of fact, Verizon has announced that this promotion is only available for a limited time.

With this promotion in place, Verizon Prepaid's plans now look like this:

  • $30/month - includes unlimited talk, text, and 1GB of 4G LTE data (before 0.5 GB)
  • $40/month - includes unlimited talk, text, and 6GB of 4G LTE data (before 3GB)
  • $50/month - includes unlimited talk, text, and 14GB of 4G LTE data (before 7GB)
  • $60/month - includes unlimited talk, text, and 20GB of 4G LTE data (before 10GB) + unlimited talk and text to Mexico and Canada

Apart from unlimited talk and text in the U.S., each plan also offers unlimited texting to over 200 international destinations, carryover data, and mobile hotspot usage. The $60/month plan also includes unlimited talk to Canada and Mexico.

If you are interested in this offer, you need to activate a new line on Verizon Prepaid through its stores or website. If you opt to sign up online, however, the double data allotment won't appear on your shopping cart. There is no reason to panic though since it will be visible on your My Verizon account after activation.

Again, this promotion is only available for a limited time. If you sign up while it's available you will be able to keep it indefinitely as long as you don't change plans. To know more about this offer, visit Verizon's website.

  1. Gonna have to swipe left on this.

Would've considered it after using my Cricket credits if they were offering unlimited data for $60.

But as long as Big Red tries to resist the future of unfettered connectivity, they'll remain a bad deal anywhere there's competition.

  2. C'mon gophone/AT&T prepaid, where's your counter??!

    1. This Verizon double data is also better that T-mobile's prepaid not just AT&T. T-Mobile also sells their prepaid phones at escalated prices such as the Iphone SE 32GB for $399 when an unlocked Iphone SE 32GB sells for $349 at Apple.

    2. T-Mobile MetroPCS gives you a FREE iPhone SE 32 and doubles the Verizon double data promo @$30/month. Or 4 FREE iPhone SE and 4 lines/$100/month.
      Much better than Verizon Prepaid.

    3. Verizon Prepaid charges $130/month for just 2 Unlimited data lines, vs $100 for 4 Unlimited data lines on MetroPCS.

    4. Most MetroPCS stores are allowing only 2 free Iphone SE 32GB and not 4 for free. For example if you switch from postpaid Verizon 4 lines with 4 separate phone numbers to be ported over to MetroPCS you will receive only 2 free Iphone SE and not 4. The other 2 free phones are the ones that have a in store price of $100 not $150, total cost for 2 Iphone SE and 2 other free phones less than $100 value is $100 for the plan and $40 for the activations and tax for $153. Second example if you are porting one line over to MetroPCS you can receive up to $150 off of any phone and that equates to a free Iphone SE as long as you buy the $60 monthly plan the first month and pay a $10 activation fee and sales tax total of $76.

    5. All MetroPCS corporate stores are honoring the iPhone SE 32GB deal for 4 free phones after instant rebate. You do pay activation and sales tax. This deal, combined with 4 lines/$100 Unlimited Data plan is unbeatable right now. It's one more reason why MetroPCS has far more subscribers than any other prepaid brand. YRMV at independent stores.

    6. Not all. I got laughed out of corporate store when trying to get 4 lines ported w/iPhones. Called corporate to complain and got an angry call from the store re my complaint. No Metro for me.

    7. Sounds like you were not in a corporate store, or this is a fake report. Anybody with a phone can verify the deal before they visit.

    8. Just because you "can verify the deal before they visit" means zilch once you are in the store. Corporate store, not fake, no soup for me.

    9. This is typical from what I have heard of MetroPCS storefronts.

    10. MetroPCS stores will use the "we are out of stock on Iphone SE" but we do have other phones you can get for free by switching. And MetroPCS stores have a database of what providers the potential customers can port from so buying a Tracfone just to get a phone number or using google voice number does not work when switching

      Delete
    11. I don't understand how or why Metro would deny a port from a Tracfone number. They're only supposed to reject numbers on the Tmo network.

    12. "T-Mobile MetroPCS gives you a FREE iPhone SE 32 and doubles the Verizon double data promo..."

And Verizon's much better coverage compared to MetroPCS doubles your ability to actually use the phone and data (compared to MetroPCS and its much worse network)

  3. just make these the Regular Plans instead of a LIMITED TIME OFFER. Time to keep up with everybody else.

  4. Hello,

Did you try to get 12 of Iphone SEs with 4 lines porting, or you just need 4 Iphone SEs.

  5. Verizon's prepaid coverage and customer service surpasses MetroPCS by a wide margin. Independent dealers for MetroPCS are terrible in my city.
MetroPCS is the better deal if you can live with their coverage

I've seen pretty bad customer service in Verizon stores, to be honest. But the Verizon network is indeed much better than MetroPCS. 30%? 40%? Twice as good?

    Somewhere in there.

  7. I logged into my Verizon prepaid account app and saw that adding a new line will get double the data. The offer expires July 23, 2018.

  8. Verizon Prepaid should improve their group discounts.

  9. I just switched to Verizon prepaid this month for coverage reasons and I have to say I am highly disappointed. Data speeds during the day are very slow mostly sub 1 Mbps range on LTE, sometimes even slower on band 13 in peak hours. At midnight speeds are fine. I have had the opportunity to check prepaid vs postpaid and Postpaid in the same area at the same time are often 30 times faster. It seems to have to due with verizon's recent heavy "deprioritization" of prepaid data. I for one cannot wait to switch back to an AT&T MVNO. Honestly I am surprised it is not a bigger topic of conversation, it's prety terible.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ditto everything you said. Switching back to AT&T MVNO where speeds were just fine. Indoor coverage with V is a joke too. It just roams onto US Cellular in my area, and won't allow calls/text/data.

    ReplyDelete
  11. All good info when considering Verizon Prepaid, which I am doing at this time. What AT&T MVNO do you recommend?

  12. I just switched to verizon prepaid this week and didnt get the double data as advertised on website. In order to qualify you must buy a verizon prepaid phone at the same time you activate your account. This wasnt mentioned on the website. I will switching back to my old carrier!

  13. Verizon stores are honoring the double data if you buy a prepaid phone that they claim is certified refurbished at the same price the phone is sold new at Target or Best Buy or buy a new in the box prepaid phone without a price on the box or on the display rack the phone was at a price 2 or 3 times the price of what the Verizon website price for phone is. Verizon store employees will treat a potential prepaid customer the same as they do their postpaid customers which is do not ask questions and believe everything we tell you and pay the price we tell you must pay because we have the best network. Do not go to a Verizon store for this deal
