T-Mobile Promises 5G Service Will Be Available on Metro by T-Mobile in 2019

Earlier today, Metro by T-Mobile unveiled its plan offering to the public. The new plans show a total of four options ranging from $30, $40, $50, and $60.

The plans all include unlimited calls and texts and an accompanying monthly allotment for data usage. The two top tier plans also include Google One Cloud storage. The $60 plan, however, includes Amazon Prime subscription. You can read all about the new plans here.

In addition to today's announcement, T-Mobile revealed that it plans to make 5G service available to its newly relaunched prepaid service. This means that when 5G service becomes available next year, it won't be limited to those under a "premium" carrier.

At this point, there is no word on how the availability of 5G will affect Metro by T-Mobile's plans. But if sources are to be considered, this service could bring next-gen wireless experience at a low price. There is also a huge possibility that Metro by T-Mobile will be changing the limitations that are currently in place with their plans.

There is no final update on when T-Mobile's 5G service will be available in the country. But if all signs are to be considered, it's likely that the service could be launched by next year.

  1. I think everyone's overlooking a not so insignificant part of widespread 5G adoption.

    Show us the devices.

    1. Nobody is overlooking anything. Verizon and AT&T can show you their 'pucks' in cities where they are testing 5G. Moto is promoting a 5G add-on module for a Z phone, like a backpack.
You will see some phone devices by 2019 when mobile services are available (like the article says). Don't expect universal devices. You will have to use your carrier's phone because it won't have bands used by competitors.
My local AT&T store says all their phones support 5G. They are actively 'selling' the fake '5G Evolution' BS (it's just faster LTE).

  2. I wont even think about adopting 5G until 2025. 4G has not even come near its completion yet. Carriers need to get busy deploying 4G before they cram all this 5G propaganda down our throats.

    2. T-Mobile and especialy Sprint are way behind deploying ANY G at all.

    3. T-Mobile and Sprint have deployed exactly the right network coverage given the constraints of their business plans and financing capability.
You don't have to be a genius to know that ALL business focus and prioritize on areas that have the most potential customers, in order to build and maintain revenue and profits ASAP.
Remote, sparsely populated areas are the lowest priority investment for wireless companies, especially those with limited resources - the ROI is negative, or will take decades to achieve a positive return.
New T-Mobile will achieve $6B in operation savings that will be used to deploy LTE and 5G on 600MHz and 2500 MHz spectrum nationwide. Then everyone will benefit from their strong competition, whether they use New T-Mobile or not. Bring it on!
