Republic Wireless Now Offering Pre-Loaded Data-Only SIM Cards

republic-wireless-data-only-sim-card
Republic Wireless, an MVNO operating under the networks of Sprint and T-Mobile, has just unveiled a new product.

Starting today, you can pick up a SIM card pre-loaded with 30 or 90 days of (almost) unlimited data.

The good thing about these SIM cards is that you no longer need to activate them. There is also no need to set up an account or a payment method after you have purchased the SIM card.

With the SIM card, this is what you get:

  • 30 Days - Includes 20GB of 4G LTE data speed
  • 90 Days - Includes 20GB of 4G LTE data speed per 30 days

Once you reach the data limit of the card, your speed will be reverted to 2G. The SIM card also does not include roaming.

One important thing to know about these cards is that they are activated upon delivery instead of the time you put them in your smartphone. The SIM card also expires and is not reloadable. If you are interested in continuing usage, you will have to purchase a new SIM card.

Right now, the cards are exclusively sold on Amazon. The 30-day card costs $29.99, while the 90-day card costs $74.99. If you don't really need other services except for data, this is a pretty good deal.

    1. You wont get the tablet plan without being a postpaid customer first

  2. How to get the $15 Sprint tablet plan? All I see is this on Sprint Business: "Our Unlimited Tablet Plan starts at $30/mo./line, but get it for just $25/mo./line when you sign up for AutoPay and have at least one phone line. Without a phone line, the Unlimited Tablet plan is $50/mo./line." TIA

    1. Click on a Sprint tablet to see the $15/month plan with Autopay.
Sprint limits this plan to tablets and hotspots, unlike Republic. You get only 10GB hotspot, not 20GB LTE and then unlimited slow data like Republic.

AT&T costs $10/month more than the Republic 90-day plan for new customers and previous customers who had not set up AutoRenew before June 2017. AutoRenew is no longer available. Data is de-prioritized after 22GB. AT&T limits the plan to tablets and gaming devices, and there is no hotspot or tethering authorized.

It looks like the new Republic data-only plan is best for most people.

    1. No. The SIM arrives pre-activated.
It will work in unlocked GSM devices in the USA.

    1. Yes, but AT&T is a much better network. You get what you pay for.

    2. T-Mobile is a much better network. They have more LTE service across the country than AT&T, which is too cheap to upgrade their HSPA/HSPA+/UMTS in many areas. Especially in the West. And T-Mobile's network is faster in most places. Only a small percentage of customers have to settle for the inferior AT&T network.

  6. I just saw this on eBay:

AT&T Unlimited 4G LTE Data-$29.99 Per Month Hotspots/Tablets/Phones - If that's legit, I want one! Has anyone here tried it?

    1. It might be. They are probably selling grandfathered accounts that were on Autopay before June 2017. That plan is no longer available for new customers or people who were not on autopay before June '17. You have to pay $35 now, and renew/buy a pass every month since autopay is not available.

    2. Wrong. I signed up for this plan about 2 weeks ago on my own and I was able to get it with a generated IMEI of an iPad Pro 2017. I used the sim card on a Unite Explore and a week ago, I upgraded to the Nighthawk M1 without issues .I'm on auto pay for $29.99 flat. No taxes or extra charges. I did called AT&T and got my Nighthawk M1 Imei updated on my account to prevent future issues. The plan is widely available as a datapass. Those sellers on eBay are stealing money. I only had to buy an unactivated sim card and used a generated IMEI of an iPad to get the plan. Easy.

    3. AT&T CS says the $29.99/month plan no longer exists for new activations, and it has been removed for ordering on the website.

  7. Thank you "Unknown December 20, 2018 at 8:09 PM" for pointing me in the right direction! I was able to follow your tips and activate the $29.99 plan on 12/27/18. Did AT&T update the IMEI from tablet to hotspot without any questions? TIA
