AT&T Prepaid is currently offering a promotion that gives you a $50 gift card in exchange for purchasing a phone and activating service.

The offer is currently available at Target and Best Buy as a tax season promotion. As spotted by BestMVNO, the $50 gift card included in this promotion will be applicable at the store where the phone purchase was done.

The promotion also requires prepaid plan activation at $50 or higher. With AT&T Prepaid's current plans available, you have three options to choose from:

  • $50 per month plan - includes unlimited talk, text, and 8GB of LTE data, international texting to over 100 countries, and mobile hotspot
  • $65 per month plan - includes unlimited talk, text, and data of up to 3Mbps, international texting to over 100 countries
  • $85 per month plan - includes unlimited talk, text, and LTE data, international texting to over 100 countries, 10GB of mobile hotspot at LTE data speeds

These plans also come with unlimited talk and text to Mexico and Canada. While traveling in either country, subscribers can also get free talk, text and data roaming. Autopay discount is applicable and has not yet been deducted from the plan price. Multi-line discounts is available on top of autopay savings.

Once you've picked out the phone and prepaid plan you wish to activate, you will need to make 3 monthly service payments within 90 days of activation. After payment of the third month, you will receive a text message with the instructions and an 8-digit promo code so you can redeem your gift card. The gift card will arrive within 4-6 weeks.

This promotion ends on April 11, 2019.

  1. It is a $5 cost for ATT. It requires customers to pay much higher monthly cost than their own Cricket which also slows data to 8Mbps speeds (slow). Ughh.

    1. You are pretty much wrong.

      1) The AT&T Prepaid plan qualifies for a $10/month autopay credit making it $40/month with autopay, plus discounts you may get with PINs.
      2) The AT&T Prepaid plan officially allows hotspot; The Cricket $40 plan does not.
      3) The AT&T Prepaid plan has unused data rollover to the next month; Cricket does not.
      4) The AT&T Prepaid plan allows you to combine the autopay discount with a multi-line discount; Cricket does not.
      5) The AT&T Prepaid plan does not throttle your data speeds; Cricket throttles to 8Mbps.
      6) AT&T Prepaid is currently rolling out VoLTE and WiFi calling, so that Cricket advantage is slowly fading away.

BTW I have this $50 8GB AT&T Prepaid plan, so I know of what I speak.
