DataPass Leaves the MVNO Scene

Another one bites the dust. Sadly, this time it's an MVNO that has just been around for a year. The MVNO, DataPass, offered service plans under the networks of T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint.

As reported by BestMVNO earlier, the MVNO decided to shut down its operations and close the business. The company founder, Jordan Kennedy, informed BestMVNO how its carrier partners and MVNE underwent back-end issues and changes to plan and pricing.

As a result of the issues, some of DataPass' subscribers were unable to use their service. This made it difficult for Kennedy and his team to keep the business running smoothly. Ultimately, the founder decided to shut down the business.

When DataPass launched in early 2018, it offered a $39/month unlimited LTE data plan under Sprint's network; which was the cheapest at the time. Unfortunately, Sprint launched the Unlimited Kickstart plan for $25/month. This caused DataPass' offering to take a back seat.

Ever since the MVNO entered the smartphone industry, it was able to attract a small number of subscribers. These subscribers were successfully assisted by the company in keeping their numbers and porting over to a new carrier.

  1. "Unfortunately, Sprint launched the Unlimited Kickstart plan for $25/month."

It also launched the 1 year free deal, and the $30 SWAC Unlimited Plus discount.
