HMD Global's Nokia 4.2 Smartphone Now Available for Pre-Orders

HMD Global is getting ready to launch the Nokia 4.2 smartphone in the United States. This report comes two months after the device was spotted at MWC 2019.

The Nokia 4.2 is an affordable device that carries a decent performance with its specs. For starters, the phone has a notched 5.7-inch TFT LCD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and up to 400GB memory expansion via a microSD card.

To take pictures with the Nokia 4.2, there is a dual-camera configuration on the back with a 13-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor that helps blur the background. On the front notch is where you will find the 8-megapixel selfie camera. The device comes with a fingerprint sensor, NFC, and a 3,000mAh battery. Upon release, the phone runs on stock Android 9.0 Pie. It is also available in Black and Pink Sand color options.

The Nokia 4.2 is expected to arrive in U.S. shores in a couple of weeks. And along with today's announcement, giant retailers like Amazon, B&H, and Best Buy have started to open pre-orders for the anticipated device. But shipping won't start until May 14th. Meanwhile, select Best Buy stores will start offering the Nokia 4.2 on June 9th.

As for its price, the new HMD Global device is said to retail across the country for $189. It will come with support for AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Metro by T-Mobile, and T-Mobile.

  1. It would have been nicer if it could have been universally unlocked and useful across Verizon and Sprint MVNOs as well.
