Verizon Reportedly Increasing Fees for Activations and Upgrades Done Via In-Store or Over-the-Phone

Verizon has some sad news for those planning to switch or upgrade their service.

Earlier today, reports surfaced that the wireless provider will be increasing its fees for activation and upgrades starting Thursday, April 18th. The increase, however, will only be affecting customers who conduct these changes in store or over the phone.

As reported by CNET, the new charge for switching or upgrading in store or over the phone will be $40 starting Thursday. On the contrary, those who opt to make their purchase online or through Verizon's My Verizon app will only have to pay $20 instead of the usual $30 charge.

Right now, Verizon has not yet released an official announcement on this change. But it could be the carrier's way of encouraging customers to start making their purchases online and without the assistance of another individual.

What do you think about this change?
