Visible Lets You Trade Old Android Phone for Free

Verizon's low-cost, all-digital phone service called Visible has just launched a new program that lets users switch to the platform.

The service was first launched by Verizon as an invite-only subscription method. But around 6 months ago, Visible started opening its doors to iPhone devices and select Android models.

A few months later, it announced that it was offering a low-cost ZTE device that was made exclusively available for their customers. This smartphone, the Visible R2, is normally priced at $99 but can now be switched to for free.

This is made possible with the newly launched program called Swap. Under this program, interested individuals can trade in any pre-owned Android device and get the Visible R2 for free.

The good thing about this new program is that users can trade in just about any old Android device. The only conditions set by Visible is that the device should be paid off and is not currently compatible with Visible. Of course, the device should also be functional.

If you have a device you would like to swap for the Visible R2, you can send it to the wireless service provider. Visible will even send you a new device and SIM card before you make the actual trade. If you opt to do this, you will have 14 days to complete the swap. After that period, you will be charged the full retail price of the Visible R2.

The Visible R2 comes with a 5.45-inch display. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core chipset with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, and a 3,100mAh battery. Camera-wise, there is a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The device also has USB-C and a fingerprint sensor. It comes with Android Oreo software pre-installed.

Once you have the device, you can activate service under the $40 per month plan it offers. This plan comes with unlimited calls, texts and 4G LTE of up to 5Mbps speed. Unlimited mobile hotspot is allowed by this no-contract plan.
