America Movil Q2 2019 Earnings Show Total of 164,000 Loses

The second quarter of the year doesn't seem to look good for America Movil and its MVNO brands.

According to NWIDA, the company lost a total of 164,000 lines during the quarter. At the end of June, its total subscriber count was 21.4 million. This number shows a decrease of 3.1% from a year ago.

The company had a net loss of 72,000 subscribers (excluding Safelink). This loss is a far cry from last year's growth of 206,000 in the same quarter.

Despite the losses, America Movil's quarterly revenues continued to grow 3.9% year-on-year to $1.998 billion. This number already includes the 1.4% increase in service revenues as well as the 21.5% higher sales from equipment.

America Movil's ARPU grew to 5.5% to $2.6. Its churn rate decreased to 3.7% compared to 4.2% from last year. Likewise, the company's EBITDA of $177 million rose to 8.2% year-on-year. Its EBITDA margin also rose 40 basis points to 8.9%.

America Movil owns Tracfone, Net10 Wireless, Simple Mobile, Straight Talk, Total Wireless, and many others.
