Meet i3 Mobile: Newest AT&T MVNO in the US

i3-mobile-us-new-mvno
i3 Mobile is a new MVNO that was quietly launched last month in the U.S. The MVNO hails from the UK, where it originally operates in. i3 Mobile runs under AT&T's network in the U.S. Due to the structure of its business, customers who sign up for service under i3 Mobile get free service from i3GO TV.

i3 Mobile targets both personal consumers and business phone users. Below are the phone plans they offer:

Consumer Phone Plans

  • Smartphone Essentials Plan - costs $25 per month and includes unlimited talk, text, and 2GB of high-speed data
  • Smartphone Unlimited Plan - costs $48 per month and includes unlimited talk, text, and LTE data
  • Ultimate Unlimited Data Only Plan - costs $65 per month and includes unlimited LTE data for tablets and hotspot devices

The plan prices already include taxes and fees. The first two plans include HD Voice calling and unlimited calling and texting to Canada and Mexico. Once the allotted data is consumed (22GB for the Smartphone Unlimited Plan), the data speeds may be slowed down temporarily in times of heavy network congestion. i3 Mobile follows AT&T's video streaming resolution at 480p. Mobile hotspot is not included.

Business Phone Plans

  • Smartphone Essentials Plan - costs $29 per month and includes unlimited talk, text, and 2GB of high-speed data
  • Business Unlimited Phone Plan - costs $65 per month and includes unlimited talk, text, and LTE data, and mobile hotspot. Subscribers also get an extra toll-free number for the business and data usage while in Mexico
  • Data-Only Business Plan - costs $69 and includes unlimited LTE data for tablets and hotspot devices

For an MVNO running on AT&T's network, i3 Mobile is unique because its plans support MMS picture messaging on iPhones. This feature is not supported by the other AT&T MVNOs.

  1. I communicated in depth with them recently. Yes,unlimited calling and texting to Canada and Mexico and "from" Canada and Mexico as well. In regards to the HD/VoLTE, I get different answers. No international texting as with the Verizon MVNO's

    1. Just found out, no HD/VoLTE. They are working on gettin it introduced sometime in the future. Their North American international roaming with talk&text is a great feature. No taxes and fee pricepoints too.

  4. The unlimited data-only plan is capped at 100 GB in a month and they are very dishonest about this. They suspended our service suddenly and without warning, citing our 105 GB usage for the month as a violation of their reasonable use policy. The policy is incredibly vague and lists no specific caps. Their FAQ explicitly says "There is absolutely no data cap on our unlimited data plans," and I asked if it was capped at 100 GB, to which I was assured it was not. I asked if there was wiggle-room on the reasonable-use policy in that case, and they repeatedly promised to check and email me, each time failing to do so by the time they said they would. Finally, after two and a half days of back-and-forth nonsense, wasting hours of my weekend plus my lunch break at work, they flat-out told me I can use 85-100 GB per month, and their carrier does not want usage over that. They made no effort to set things right other than a one-sentence apology for the inconvenience and greedily offering to re-instate our service if we paid for another month before the month we already paid for was up.

The cap was not a deal-breaker, but the dishonesty about it sure was.
