Alcatel: Releasing Two Flip Phones in the US Soon

TCL is launching a couple of flip phones in the U.S. real soon.

The Chinese company owns the Alcatel brand and has obtained rights to launch phones under the BlackBerry brand. With today's announcement, it's exciting to how TCL's new Alcatel devices will be accepted by its U.S. customers.

The new devices, called the Go Flip 3 and the SmartFlip, embody a retro clamshell design that is reminiscent of previous models. What makes these two devices different, however, these two devices are powered by KaiOS operating system and come with Google Assistant support and 4G connectivity.

The two devices also offer similar specs. For starters, there is a 2.8-inch main display with an external 1.44-inch for notifications. The phone also comes with 4GB of built-in storage and up to 32GB memory expansion via a microSD card. There is a camera at the back with a 2-megapixel resolution. As for battery life, the two phones promise up to 7 hours of continuous talk time over 4G LTE and 27 days on standby.

As for pricing, there is no information available yet. But with regards to availability, the GO Flip 3 will be available at T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile by October. The SmartFlip phone will be available at AT&T and Cricket Wireless starting September 27th.
