Sony is Launching a New Xperia Smartphone Next Week

After keeping mum for a few months, Sony has finally unveiled what it has been working on.

Today, the company took the wraps off the Sony Xperia 5, a smartphone that follows the footsteps of the Xperia 1.

The device comes with a 6.1-inch OLED display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of onboard storage, and a microSD card slot for expandable memory.

The Xperia 5 also has three 12-megapixel cameras on the back: a main camera with f/1.6 aperture, a telephoto lens, and a 130-degree wide-angle camera. It is capable of recording 4K video in HDR. The camera in front comes with an 8-megapixel resolution and f/2.0 aperture.

Other features of the Xperia 5 include a 3,140mAh battery, NFC, a fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, and water resistance. It supports several US LTE bands, such as bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 25, 26, 29, 41, 46, and 66. Available colors include Black, Blue, Gray, and Red.

What's pretty neat about this new Sony smartphone is that it is said to come with DualShock support for haptic gaming on Fortnite.

Pre-orders for the Xperia 5 is said to start next week.
