Total Wireless Users Officially Getting Mobile Hotspot Soon

total-wireless-mobile-hotspot-coming-soon
Ever since it began, Total Wireless customers never got mobile hotspot feature on their devices. There were some users who were able to come up with a workaround but it did come with a risk. Customers who opted for this solution risked having their service terminated and their account kicked off the network since it violated the terms of service they agreed upon.

Now, it looks like the Tracfone-owned MVNO is finally making mobile hotspot available across plans containing data. The report comes from @KingOfTechDeals, who shares this should be available beginning November 4, 2019. Unfortunately, this still comes with some limitations and depends on the plan being used.

When the Verizon MVNO launches mobile hotspot, it will be available on these phone plans:

  • $35 per month single line plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 5GB of hard-capped data
  • $50 per month single line plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 25GB of high-speed data
  • $60 per month multi-line plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 30GB of high-speed data shared between two lines
  • $85 per month multi-line plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 60GB of high-speed data shared between three lines
  • $90 90-day single line plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 5GB of hard-capped data every month
  • $100 per month multi-line plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 100GB of high-speed data shared between four lines

These plans do not include taxes and fees.

Once Total Wireless makes mobile hotspot feature available on these plans, it will be limited to 10GB of data every month. For those under the $35 per month or 90-day plan, all of the allotted data may be used for mobile hotspot.

Are you excited for this new availability?

  3. I am excited for this update. We use the Total Wireless 4-line $100 plan.

Unfortunately, I just called Total Wireless customer service (December 1, 2019), and they are clueless about the new hotspot feature and how to set it up on my iPhone. Customer service told me they DO NOT support hotspot except when using a dedicated hotspot device on a hotspot plan.

I really like saving money with Total Wireless, but it's frustrating when customer service doesn't have a clue about their own new hot spot feature.

    1. Talk to a different agent. The few times I've had to call TW customer service, I've had no problems getting things done.

    2. On Jan 8,2020, the agent is still clueless about using a phone for a hotspot. This is even after I received an email from TW rolling out the service.

  4. Is anyone able to activate the hotspot on an iphone yet? If so, how? I have had the 4 line plan and can't get the hotspot activated. Called and said they don't support this feature.

    1. I was told by TW that Personal Hotspot will rollout at some point in January, so I’m counting on it in March or later.

Maybe, if you call, beg, luck out & get a cs rep that actually knows anything.

  5. I've had TW for a few years. My first phone wouldn't allow hotspot access. On the 2nd phone (LG), the hotspot works flawlessly. I have the multi-line $60 plan.

  6. On Feb 7, 2020, I received an email from TW with the subject, "Try this NEW smokin' hot feature!" The email told about the new feature available to TW smart phone users. I could not set it up so I called TW customer support. The guy knew nothing about the feature and told me it was not available on TW for phones, only for separate devices. He knew nothing of the email, implying it might be a fake. I'll try a different custom service guy.
