FreeUp Mobile's Free 250 Talk or Text Plan is Gone

freeup-mobile-free-250-minute-text-plan-gone
It looks like FreeUp Mobile is no longer offering its 250 talk or text free plan.

A user posted the observation today on Howard Forums, where he discovered that the option to get the plan is no longer available on the website.

This isn't the first time this year that the AT&T MVNO made changes to its plan. Prior to July 2019, FreeUp offered a free plan with 1,000 minutes or 1,000 texts. But in July, it lowered that number to just 250 minutes or 250 texts.

Just like it did in the past, FreeUp's existing customers can choose to retain their free 250 minutes or 250 texts plan. But those who sign up for service after today's change will no longer have that option. Instead, they will have to choose from one of the plans offered by the MVNO. These plans include the following options:

  • $15 per month plan - comes with unlimited global talk & text and 500 MB data
  • $20 per month plan - comes with unlimited global talk & text and 2GB data
  • $30 per month plan - comes with unlimited global talk & text and 6GB data
  • $45 per month plan - comes with unlimited global talk & text and unlimited data

For more information on the plans offered by FreeUp, visit their website here.

  1. 1000 to 250 = end of beginning
250 to gone = beginning of the end
I'm guessing six months left but I might be too optimistic.

    1. Their initial free plan was 500 minutes or texts and 100 mb of data. That was around November 2018. They changed it to 1000 min or txt with no data and in January 2019 then to 250 in July 2019. I'm guessing that the free plans will likely stay active for those who have them as long a FreeUp is still active.

    2. If they plan to continue service, I think a name change is in order.

      Maybe PayUp Mobile?

  2. I still have the 1000 and/or plan. In fact, I have 4 of them. I wonder how long they will exist. Free Ups paid plans are really not that great a value.

  6. The free plan required monthly renewal, so I think it is dead, as we can no longer renew the free plan either.

  7. So that's how they're going to do it. Well, I guess I'll see when ours come due in January.
