Google Pixel Users Get January 2020 Security Patch Update

Google has released a new Android security update for Pixel devices.

Earlier today, Google shared both factory and OTA images for the following devices:

  • Google Pixel 2
  • Google Pixel 2 XL
  • Google Pixel 3
  • Google Pixel 3 XL
  • Google Pixel 3a
  • Google Pixel 3a XL
  • Google Pixel 4
  • Google Pixel 4 XL

If you are the owner of one of these devices, you can expect the update to start rolling out over the air within the day. But it's possible that the update might take a few days before it appears on your device.

The previous update, called 2020-01-01, comes with fixes for the vulnerabilities discovered with the Android system, media framework, and the framework itself. The new update 2020-01-05, on the other hand, comes with fixes for vulnerabilities with the Qualcomm components, closed source components, and kernel components.

Not to mention, the update includes specific functional patches for the models. You can check out the image below to see what functional patch is available for your device.
