Huawei's P30 Lite New Edition is From Last Year

Huawei had a pretty tough 2019 due to the ban that was imposed to them by the US government. Even though the ban has not been completely lifted, the Chinese manufacturer is not allowed to certify any new devices.

One way they are coping with this is by re-badging its existing models by throwing in some incremental changes to its hardware. This is what the company has done with its latest device, the P30 Lite New Edition.

In a nutshell, this smartphone is the same as the P30 Lite device that Huawei launched last year. The only difference is that the company has increased the memory and storage on the New Edition model. The previous model had a maximum 8GB/128GB configuration. The new model, on the other hand, has up to 6GB/256GB configuration. Apart from these, everything else is pretty much the same.

This is one strategy Huawei is doing to re-release the devices it launched in 2019 without getting a new license for the Google Services. The device is already available in the UK for £299 ($390). It should be available in other countries in the coming months, but there is no word whether it will be sold in the US.

  1. Basically, the device is unsure both for selling in the US and supporting Google services.
