TextNow Offering Free Talk & Text Service

TextNow has just made a huge announcement over at their website. The Sprint MVNO has just launched their talk and text cellular service. And the best thing about the announcement is that it is free.

What this means is that the talk and text service is available nationwide without any fees. There is no need to pay for basic phone plans or even asking for the WiFi password from a coffee shop. As long as you have your TextNow number, you can use it with Sprint's nationwide network.

According to TextNow, it is able to offer free talk and text service to its users the same way as they did with their free app. They were able to offer service for free since these were supported by the ads on the app. The same technology has been used but tweaked to better the experience for users.

The free talk and text service offered by TextNow can be used by anyone anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. There are no monthly fees to worry about so it can be used as often as you prefer. All you need to do is connect to Sprint's networks using a compatible phone, download the TextNow app, and look for the "Free Coverage" option. The app will then guide you through the rest of the activation.

And if you don't have a phone, TextNow has a number of refurbished models that are available for sale. You can check these out on their website. You can also visit their website for more information on the free talk and text cellular service.

  2. "All you need to do is connect to Sprint's networks using a compatible phone"

How do you activate your compatible phone and stock sim card in order to connect to Sprint's network?
If you are able to connect to Sprint, does the service turn on just enough data to download the TextNow app?
Or do you need to go to a Starbuck's to download the app prior to activating your phone on the Sprint network?

    1. You'll need wifi to set everything up, but once activated, it works great. Of course, having good Sprint coverage in the area you want to use it in helps. Luckily, I do!

    2. Just download the app, get a new number and then on the app itself you'll see an icon that says free coverage. There it'll guide you to get the sim card.

    1. Seems to be unlimited. From the FAQs: "Who Can I Text and Call? Just like our current service, the answer is fairly simple: Anyone. Anywhere in the U.S or Canada. As often as you’d like. For $0 a month."

  4. Wow. Just tried it with an old Sprint Android phone he had. Had to load the TextNow app and set up everything while on wifi. All went smoothly. I then turned off the wifi and was still able to call and text. I'll be giving the phone to an older relative so they can have a mobile number. Thanks, TextNow!
