HMD Global Unveils Its First 5G Smartphone

Earlier today, HMD Global took the wraps off on its newest smartphone, the Nokia 8.3 5G. This device also marks as HMD Global's first 5G smartphone.

According to the manufacturer, this device supports more 5G networks compared to the other 5G-enabled devices. This is because it supports sub-6 GHz 5G networks in 12 different frequency bands, as well as the ones being used in the US (bands 2, 5, 41, 66, and 71). The Nokia 8.3 5G also supports NSA (non-stand-alone) and SA (stand-alone) 5G networks.

As for the specs of the device, the Nokia 8.3 5G comes with a 6.8-inch full HD display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with a choice between 6 or 8 GB RAM and 64 or 128 GB onboard memory. A memory card slot is available on the phone. There is a quad camera configuration on the rear, composed of a 64-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel wide camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a depth camera. In front, the device has a 24-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

The Nokia 8.3 5G comes with a fingerprint reader on the side, a dedicated Google Assistant button, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C, and fast charging. The device is said to start shipping this summer and will be sold at $640.
