Meet the Unihertz Atom XL

Nowadays, the battle is on for the largest smartphone screen size. It seems like manufacturers have been doing their best to compete with each other with regards to this factor. But one smartphone manufacturer has decided to go a different route.

Instead of equipping their device with a large smartphone screen, Unihertz has come up with a compact phone. The Atom XL has a 4-inch display screen with notable features such as IP68 water/dust resistance, 4G LTE support, and a walkie-talkie function. Despite its smaller screen, it runs on Android 10.

Another notable feature of this phone is that it comes with a 48-megapixel rear-facing camera. The phone runs on a MediaTek Helio P60 processor with 6GB of RAM and onboard storage of 128GB. Other features include USB-C fast charging functionality, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

Right now, the device is fully-funded on Kickstarter and is selling for $259. When it starts retailing this June, it will be priced at $329.

  1. I wonder if this will work on Verizon network. Most "global" phones are GSM only.
