Meet Google's Newest 5G Smartphones: Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5

After a few months of teasers and leaks, Google has finally unveiled its two latest devices-- the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5. Let's talk about these phones in more detail.

Google Pixel 4a 5G

The Pixel 4a 5G comes as a successor to the Pixel 4a, which was launched earlier this year. Apart from just adding 5G-capability, Google has made a few changes to the newer model. For starters, it now comes with a larger display screen and battery capacity. It also carries a different camera configuration compared to the standard Pixel 4a model.

The Pixel 4a 5G has a 6.2-inch FHD+ display with a 1080x2340 resolution. From within, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage. There is also a 3,885mAh battery included in the Pixel 4a 5G.

As for its camera configuration, the Pixel 4a 5G comes with two rear-facing cameras-- a 12.2-megapixel dual-pixel sensor and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. In front, there is an 8-megapixel camera. Its features include USB-C port, NFC, a fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It will be sold in two colors: Just Black and Clearly White. Upon release, the Google Pixel 4a 5G will be running the new Android 11 OS.

Right now, you can join Google's waitlist for this device. It will be priced at $499 when it gets released.

Google Pixel 5

The other device that Google revealed today is the Pixel 5. Some of the things that make it different from the Pixel 4a 5G is that it has IPX8 water resistance, reverse wireless charging, stronger Gorilla Glass 6 panel, and more RAM. On the other hand, it does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Pixel 5 comes with a 6-inch OLED display with a 2340x1080 resolution. It is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. Other features include 5G capability, a 4,080mAh battery, NFC, and fingerprint scanner.

There are two rear-facing cameras on this phone as well-- a 12.2-megapixel main sensor and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera. In front, an 8-megapixel camera can be used for selfies and video calls. Upon release, the Pixel 5 will be running Android 11 OS. Available colors include Just Black and Sorta Sage. It will be priced at $699 when it is released. Pre-orders are available on Google's website.
