MWC 2021 Has Been Moved to June

Back in July, the organizers of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) announced that they are considering going digital. Considering the event is slated for March 2021, it looks like the GSMA is no longer confident about hosting the event so soon.

Since they had no choice but to cancel MWC 2020 due to the health crisis, the GSMA decided to push back next year's event to June.

MWC is one of the largest mobile conferences in the world. When it canceled MWC 2020, it caused a problem for those who were scheduled to unveil their products during the event. But because it also occurred at the height of the pandemic outbreak in the country, the organizers had no choice but to back out as well. And with no word yet on a successful vaccine, the best option is to move the event to a later part in the year instead of risking it.

Instead of hosting the event in March, the GSMA today announced that the MWC 2021 will be moved to June 28 through July 1, 2021. The organizers shared that this was changed because of the "global circumstance surrounding COVID-19."

"The GSMA is committed and investing so that MWC21 Barcelona can go ahead safely and offer the unique, unmissable experience that has made it the world's most important mobile ecosystem convening platform."

And since there may be some who may still be hesitant about making any travel plans, the organizers shared that they will be having "virtual elements to complement the overwhelming demand to convene physically."

Although March is still a few months away, this is a safe and wise decision for the organizers to make at this time. It will give the event participants enough time to prepare for the big day.
