Pure Talk, H2O Wireless: To Start Offering eSIM in 2021

It looks like more and more prepaid brands are adapting eSIM technology. Just recently, Telrite Holdings revealed that two of its MVNOs, Pure Talk and H2O Wireless, will soon start offering eSIM by 2021.

The two operate under AT&T's networks as an MVNO. Once the technology becomes available, new customers can sign up for service under either MVNO with an eSIM-enabled device. This means that they no longer have to go to a store or wait for a SIM card to arrive in the mail.

And with the ongoing health crisis, the need for brands to shift to eSIM makes more sense. With the Coronavirus pandemic still causing a problem throughout the world, people still do not want to take a risk by heading to a retail store. With eSIM, this makes it much more easier for customers to activate service under a brand they like.

Telrite is said to be using eSIM management software provided by Giesecke+Devrient. Its onboarding software is GSMA-compliant and is capable of independent use from any eSIM technology built into today's smartphones.

Apart from Pure Talk and H2O Wireless, another prepaid brand that has recently started to test out the capabilities of eSIM is Visible. This is a Verizon-owned prepaid brand.
