Google Rolling Out Security Update to Pixel Phones

If you're using a Google Pixel device, you can expect a new security update to roll out to your device real soon. According to Google, the update comes with a number of bug fixes and functional improvements to eligible devices.

One of the things that the update will be fixing is a bug that accidentally removes a playlist on YouTube Music. The update will also be fixing an issue that hinders the ringer audio for starred contacts while the device is in Do Not Disturb mode.

Additionally, the update will improve the touch response of the Pixel 4a 5G with certain screen protectors. It will also be fixing a bug that causes the screen on both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL to darken during a phone call.

The devices that will be receiving the update include the following:

  • Pixel 3
  • Pixel 3 XL
  • Pixel 3a
  • Pixel 3a XL
  • Pixel 4
  • Pixel 4 XL
  • Pixel 4a
  • Pixel 4a 5G
  • Pixel 5

The November 2020 security update will be rolling out over the air and might take a few days before they roll out to devices. But you can always check manually to see if the update is already available on your device by going to Settings > System > Advanced > System update
